3 days touring around the city.

Apart from the chaotic lifestyle of VCE, the past couple of days has been extremely enjoyable with my extended cousin's family. ;) As I showed them around Melbourne, Waterfront Docklands, Lygon Street, Hosier Lane, Melbourne Central, Southgate, Chinatown,.. It's been such a wonderful experience to revisit some of Melbourne beautiful landscapes. :) It's finally the holidays and rather than taking a getaway vacation.. the aim of this holiday is... to studylikeaCRAZYmonkey. :) Hope u like the candid shots I took. Melbourne's contemporary architecture is getting quirkier by the day.. It's amazing!

Finally completed the English SAC today on A Man For All Seasons, instead of blabbering on how ordinary my day has been... With model making, English SAC, Maths test, and Studio Art from 5.30pm-9.30pm. Life in Year 12 is never easy... Another 72 more days till English examination... My day has been fully occupied with heaps and heaps of work, and preparation for exams... I've been reading heaps of Architectural Books recently, this is one of the few pictures I came across on the August issue of Architectural Record mag. It's the Republic of Korea Pavilion, designed by Minsuk Cho, and exhibited in Shanghai's world expo. Quite extraordinary. (:

Master in Architecture

After attending the presentation of Bachelor of Environments, and Master of Architecture.. I'm almost certain that Architecture is the path I'm taking... Just the idea of designing a large scaled building and taking into consideration of the aesthetics of both exterior and interior of an environmental space really sparks my interest. It is a huge responsibility, but who's to say that I can't manage this? I'd really like to give this a try... and more importantly... be part of a culture that defines Melbourne cityscape. (:

Being in Year 12 we're not usually exposed to the construction and structure of the architecture; In Visual Communication and Design, as a talented broad bunch we are... They are some aspiring automotive designers, graphic designers, artists, fashion designers and product designers... We are certainly a quirky bunch. As for me, still juggling between Architecture and Art... I guess I'll find out at the end of the day wouldn't I? I love Architecture, as my new found interest... It's the understanding of space in an Architecture; the "level" of thinking in the formation of Architecture, building the foundation and continuously manipulating the structure of the sculpture.. It's so complex and enticing, there's always something to learn... and there's my expressive other half, - Art. I love Art, whether if it's the Art of fashion, paintings, design, card-making, recycled art... It's that moment of solitude and stillness, whether if it's lighting up the children's faces in a short couple of hours, or painting for a sense of peace in my heart, or exercising the creativity of the mind... I'd love to do both, but there's only a couple of months left to make that change...

iPad is overrated.

Ironically this post will not be about iPad or any technology related merchandise. Instead I'll be writing about everything which iLove before iSleep, because iDon't think iPod or iPad are areas of my expertise, and if I was to talk about iPod&Pad... Apple will bound to suffer of bankruptcy. Therefore presenting "The little things iLove before iSleep"...

What do iLove? I love Art. & I also love Architecture. Why have I developed a love for Architecture? or more precisely, Why Architecture?

I was asked that exact same question yesterday by a fellow Visual Communication and Design friend, She complimented on my incredible artistic ability to draw so amazingly but is still frustrated and confused of why have I chosen Architecture over Art.

To be honest, I am not entirely sure myself.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't for the money, and financial stability.. But there is far more beyond the horizon than just the surface... The sky is the limit.

Sherry Ng has been drawing since the age of 6, I used to draw on walls, floor, table, legs, hands, everywhere imaginable. I have always been recognised for being able to draw and paint, and to convey my ideas creatively in art lessons, art competitions, helping out desigining school murals, etc etc. It is a part of me, and it will never leave me.

But what is Art? Art has a total of 16 definitions from aesthetic principles to science and scholarship. The art which I personally am familiar with is to convey ideas visually, to constantly explore and experiment, to challenge the mind and stretch one's capability of achieving their desired results. Art is the quality, production, expression, or realm according to aesthetic principles of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

& What is Architecture? With a total of 7 definitions.

"The structure of anything. The character and style of a building. It is the profesion of desigining buildings, open areas, communities, and other artificial constructions and environments, usually with some regard to aesthetic effect. Architecture often includes design and selection of furnishings and decorations, supervision of construction work and the examination, restoration, or remodelling of existing buildings.

Learning about Architecture is like crawling like a baby again... Beginning life's journey from the starting point of a board game. It is completely foreign but utterly satisfying as I've realised to unite both Art and Architecture, I have stepped up to a complete new level of Artistry. The Art of Architectural Structure... Taking into consideration of the natural light and acoustic atmosphere in developing the structure of the Architecure, creating Art not only on paper but on land.. The word creativity originates from the word Creation. Thou shall bring praise to the Creator (:

Therefore to answer my previous question... Why Architecture?

Apart from the obvious "I really like it" response, choosing Architecture does not neccessarily mean I have abandoned Art. I choose both, because I am capable of doing both. And I enjoy both Art and Architecture.
