Day 1-without mummy

Yes, Mummy and Qi Qi left for New Zealand this morning. Thankfully it's on the same day as WCC's Profesional Development Day.
(A day for all teachers to plan ahead for their individual subjects)
Hugged and wished them goodbye.
With Hayley at school, and I was advised to be home for the day.
I thought "Damnit, I'm starving. What can I eat now?"
Opened up the fridge, and saw a bundle of carrots.. hmm.. Carrot Soup!
(really how hard can it get? carrot-soup? )
Hence, looked it up on google, printed out the recipe, gathered all the ingredients and started cooking!! (This is indeed very very very exciting for me, because I'VE NEVER COOKED ANYTHING without adult's supervision, all my life!... fried eggs does not count)

1 tbs olive oil

1 large brown onion, halved, chopped

5 large carrots, peeled and chopped

1 1/2 cups shicken stock

1/3 thin cream

1/4 milk

Salt & freshly grounded black pepper

Had all my ingredients ready!

Ok... as you can see.. It's my first time chopping the onion without any supervision!

who cares about presentation, as all as it's edible.

carrots-done (:

As soon as all my ingredients were chopped up, I was so looking forward to c-o-o-k-i-n-g!

(mind my wrong use of punctuation, the word cook/cooking does not appear in my blog very often)

Method

1.Heat the oil in medium saucepan over high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until soft.Add carrots and stock and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, for 12-15 minutes or until tender. Set aside for 5 minutes to cool.

There were countless of questions running through my mind now.

What's stock?

I know what a pan is, But a saucepan?

Google images helped alot on this one. I was short of not one, but two ingredients! Chicken Stock (Yes, I know what it is now) and Thin Cream!

Left the Onion, half fried, half golden brown, and bus'd straight to Glen Waverley Safeway. After getting the ingredients I needed, grr.. & with Salvation Army only a couple shops away, felt as if temptation was leading me to "check out" some of their goodies @ Salvos.

It's 50% off orange tags!!

Cheaper than cheap?

& all of the money goes to the people in need?\

It's a win-win situation!

Why Not?

Purchased a bracelett worth Aud1.90! My day is complete (:

After 2 hours of browsing through Salvos, finally decided on 1 bracelett, and missing two buses back home. I have yet had my breakfast, and the onions were still half cooked back home.

On my way rushing to the bus-stop, I was again distracted by....

"Marry me?"

My answer is.. no.

(Bahahah, I have the attention span of a goldfish according to YiFu)

My Onions!

My face.

The Friggin Chicken Stock.

Getting back on track. (:

2. Place carrot mixture, cream and milk into the jug of the blender and blend until smooth. Return to the saucepan and sitr over medium heat until hot. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

3. Ready to serve.

Carrot soup, turned out GOOD! (:

How about the dishes I hear you ask, (more like me wondering "Where's mummy when you need her?") lol.

Mummy, if you ever see this. Your gonna be SOOoooo Proud of me!

(:

Hayley loved it.

I loved it.

YOU should try it.

p.s If I can do it, please DON'T DOUBT YOURSELF. :D

Rainbow Snow Log
simplified as Chocolate Ripple Cake with strawberry garnish & flakes.
Yes, doesn't look much of a success.
Made it the day before for Josh's 16th Birthday bash today... Funny thought, I don't think I've ever put this much heart and thought into anyone's birthday gift, therefore it is a pretty big deal for me in perfecting this cake.. :) Sherry's very first attempt in making a cake!

method: Stack whipped cream on top of each cookie and join them together, resembling a log. cover the entire cake with cream, thickly. Placed it in the refrgirator for 6 hours. ready to serve straight after. :) decorate it if desired.

my new friend, Elaine :)

Yes karaoke with all you can eat buffet at Four season. Though it was slightly awkward at the beginning, knowing only vivian and michelle and friends i know through a long list of connection.. The dinner soon spreaded into different cliques, chattering within their cliques.. We took up the courage and began singing! lol more likely to be screaming our lungs out... the night was reasonably awesome thanks to joshie birthday boy, (no photoes taken with him unfortunately) hope he'll enjoy the cake and appreciate the effort I've put into "it"... Besides that, caught up with a few friends.. A night filled with new faces, enjoyment, chatter, and deep conversations... it's nice having a night like this for a change.
