Family Love?

Problem solved!
Blogging about my conversation with Mummy 15 minutes ago.
Tonight we had "popiah" for dinner! But before setting up the plates & stuff, I took out my visual diary and began flipping through pages showing mummy the pieces I've been working on.
Mummy & I
Mummy: Shiek Er, I shouldn't have tell you off for sleeping late that night.
Me: Mummy you see, you see first.
Mummy: They're "hou leng" (very pretty), all very nice. (:
Me: Did I tell you, I got 29 outta 30 for one of my designs? And noone got 30 in class!
Mummy: Very good! (The Mummy Smile (: )
Me: oh... I cried in school the other day too...
Mummy: How come?
Me: (looked down on my thighs, & immediately had my chin up)
Well, He was asking what were my plans for the future. & you know, how I've always wanted to be an artist, well recently because of how we've been talking alot. You (mummy) want to be more independant and Shiek Ling wants to be the richest person in the world. I don't know, I've been thinking.. how to make money off my designs, and it really took away the whole meaning of me desiging in the first place. We're very different, mummy.
Mummy: Well, all the stuff that I said, wasn't meant for you.. but for myself, I want to be independant, and having no money is very "san fu" (suffering) I can't go out and not have money to spend.
Me: I know, but whenever the topic on money is brought up, I don't know.. I'd rather not talk about it...
Mummy: Well you know, Shiek Er... Me ShiekLing and you are very different. We want to earn money, money is very important. But you on the other hand, do what you want to do.. I bet "Papa" (daddy) will be very proud to see you happy. Whatever happens in the future, I will support you ok? even if you have no money, I still will support you.
Me: okay.. (: thankyou mummy. ;)

My love for Art?

Before i move on to my homework/assignments, here's a story I'd like to share with you readers.

It happened this morning actually, Maths period before Lunch time. As Mr. Matinez (Visual Communication) teacher took over our class. Seeing as Maths was my most hated subject, I decided to continue my piece I started in Art the period before.. Mr Matinez came over and flipped through my visual diary.

He was amazed that I could draw pretty well, and asked if I had any plans for the future..

Though I've been asked this question one too many times, and the answer would always be.. Industrial design? Art? However, this time.. I was left speechless. I did mentioned about art, and how pursuing in this career would definately be my all-time goal. But really, with recent occurence, and last night's discussion, surrounded by people with different views, made me more aware of society today.

I once knew who I wanted to be, a clear vision.. An artist.

Yet recently my views were shaken slightly, doubts were raised, subconsciously sinking into confusion.

Anyways, back to Mr Matinez.

After my answer to his question, -I don't know. and explaining the reasons behind that answer.

He added on, "Sherry you're definately one of the most talented artist I've seen in my life"

I was completely overwhelmed by his comment, a comment as massive and his, and by a teacher who knows everything on art.. I was utterly blown away. and began to tear a little.

Not merely on the comment itself, but knowing I can never agree with him in that sense, how can I possibly be the most talented person he's come across, and I'm not focused in art myself..

It's depressing; though I've always saw myself drawing happily in my room, no worries, no pressure, not caring if the world's tearing apart. However, that Sherry no longer exists, as you grow older each day, different occurence shaping who you are, different exposures, & most importantly, when you're given more options in life.. Money or Passion?

I know there's an option of choosing both, but before getting into money.. I must must question myself, am I entirely passionate about art?

The answer is indeed yes, always have been and always will be. Unfortunately, as soon as one thinks about money-making/attention-seeking, the purpose behind an artpiece completely changes. & I'm afraid.. I'll be that person one day.

Bringing a little bit of colour, a little bit of creative flair, & a whole lot of family quality time!

Books & CDs of the week

This might sound unlikely of me, noticing my tremendous change throughout the years, (clickity on my previous blog) I agree, I've never been the outgoing, wild party queen material. But I have change! No doubt on that, appreciating & valueing life to the extreme.. Observing my daily surroundings...
Mummy: " Have you heard?"
Me: "about...?"
Mummy: " Uncle Leslie's moving back to Malaysia. You know the guy who migrated on the same day we did?"
Me: "Yes"
*awkward silence*
Mummy "Makes me wanna go home...."

Though I am slightly more fortunate than most migrants, having a place which I can refer as home, the company of a loving family, supportive friends, positive environment. Sounds almost perfect; On the other side of the planet, Daddy's struggling to come up with the money, health risks, has always been a worry to us all. The sense of guilt piling up whenever a thought of it comes to mind, yet what else is there to do? But to value everything that he's given us.

Currently learning hebrew, a couple of Folktales illustrations during my spare time...
Having all these ideas in mind, inspired by books I've read, I'll come up with some art pieces soon :)

Though our future's a blur, lets make today matter

AH! enough with the cakes already!
Yes. My post for today will be on.. Daily intake
came back from work.. along with 2 massive boxes of chocolate mud cake && fruit sensation. && Michel's winter chocolate pudding. How irrestably tempted to chuck em all into my piehole,& So i did. 2 slices of Pudding, 1 slice of mudcake, 5 slices of fruit sensation in total. Worst of all, I had to end it up all by rewarding* myself with a bowl of red bean soup. Talk about not sabotaging your body ==, I've destroyed mine completely.

update**

Just got off the phone with matt yum, rambled on about.. crap.(: Which included, dietary intake, life, meaningful cartoons (Dr.Seuss' Horton hears a who?), church, friends, self-realization.. topic varied from A-Z.. It's always nice I reckon, having a friend whom you can share your thoughts with, not merely on blogs as who knows when will you ever receive feedbacks. Though I have yet to open up the bible, but flashing back on Dan Lian's sermon lastnight in Youth, really reflected on my current dilemma* With the name" Jesus Christ mentioned everywhere in my life, every corner I turn to.. The spirit of Familarity starts to rise up, resulting us to abandon the importance of the son of God,Jesus. It's this sense of familiarity which blinded us from what could and will happen in the future.

"God, I believed.. you could..."

it's this lack of believe that blinded us from the creator.. worse still, focusing on his creations rather than he himself. what awesome wonders he could've done.. think about it.

Amongst everything we talked about, one which really stood out was..

Sherry:: Who created temptations?

Matt:: It's a sinning nature, that's naturally in us.. remember? the story of Adam and Eve?

Sherry:: Yep ;)

Having craving comes naturally in us, temptation comes naturally to us.. Sometimes, we do give in to these temptations, Yet the satisfaction's merely momentary.. For instance, eating 5 slices of cakes perhaps..moments later, realizing how much calories you've taken in...

&& another conversation which stood out.

Why do people constantly see the cup as half full or half empty? Isn't it just a cup of water?

It's infact proven that analysis is paralysis. There's always lessons taught in every movie, every incident, every disagreement.. the beauty of life.

minimizing the size of earth

maximizing the size of God
